Abstract

The study explores the extent to which there is a need for establishing new Defined Situations of Hazard and Accident (DSHA) when Integrated Operations (IO) is introduced. It comprises a literature review and an interview study. The study suggests that there currently is no need for changing the DSHAs currently used in the industry, as the overall types of accidents that may arise in an IO environment are foreseen to be similar to the types of accidents that may arise in a traditional operational environment. It further reveals that the IO development produces a need for establishing a new ICT-related DSHA. The study clarifies that the IO development influences the causal chains of leading to DSHAs.
