Background/Summary: 
Stein Krogstad holds a Cand. Scient. degree from Department of Mathematics, Norwegian University og Science and Technology (NTNU), and a Dr. Scient. degree (PhD) from Department of Informatics, University of Bergen. He is currently a Senior Research Scientist at SINTEF ICT. His research interests are focused around methods for numerical simulation of flow in porous media with application to model based optimization for reservoir management. Current and previous research includes discretization on challenging grids and fast approximate simulations (upscaling, mulitscale, proxies and model reduction) for optimization purposes including adjoint methods. He is involved in the develoment of of the MATLAB Reservoir Simulation Toolbox (MRST) where he recently developed an automatic differentiation module including several fully implicit solvers.
