The production optimization activity has direct impact on the bottom line of the company. In the current organization model of integrated operations, decisions are often taken in interdisciplinary meetings. Optimizing production requires contributions from several disciplines, but achieving effective collaboration is challenging as the different disciplines involved have different goals, perspectives, and concerns. Improving the production optimization meetings may have a large effect on the economy. Articulating and bringing the different concerns to light may be helpful in balancing the concerns and making decisions based on a common goal for the PO activity. This handbook describes the production optimization activity, outline some challenges related to both technical factors and to collaboration. Finally some tips to improve the collaboration in production optimization meetings are suggested.
