The terms "management" and "leadership" are often used interchangeably. Management is what makes an organization work: planning, budgeting, organizing, staffing, control and problem solving. Leadership creates, builds and transforms organizations: defining a vision for the future, aligning people with the vision, inspiring people and removing obstacles to the vision. Both are essential for the organization to thrive and succeed. The "Leadership in Integrated Operations" handbook provides advice and recommendations for managers, leaders and team members to: understand why leadership is important to IO and why IO leadership needs to be different; to recognize what makes a great leader; to develop their own leadership skills and develop leadership within their teams; and, to evaluate themselves as leaders and consider how they can improve. Links to the IO Leadership handbook and some other useful resources for leaders are listed below (log in and click on "Read more" below).
